The 96 Draft
For NBATV’s The 1996 Draft, a documentary centered around one of the most iconic classes in NBA history, our team at WarnerMedia Studios was tasked with developing a full broadcast graphics package to support the film’s storytelling. The goal was to create a cohesive visual system that could carry the tone of the era while elevating the documentary through modern motion design.
Working in close collaboration with NBATV producers and talent, we designed and executed a complete package that included the main title open, end cards, transitions, bumpers, lower thirds, and promotional graphics. The creative approach balanced nostalgia and polish, drawing inspiration from mid-90s aesthetics while refining them through contemporary lighting, materials, and motion language to feel premium and cinematic.
As part of the 3D team, I contributed to the development of key visual elements using Cinema 4D and Arnold Render, alongside compositing and finishing work in After Effects. The process involved building dimensional graphic systems, crafting lighting setups suited for broadcast, and ensuring consistency across all deliverables, from hero moments like the open to utility-driven elements such as lower thirds and transitions.
The final package created a unified visual thread across the documentary, enhancing the storytelling without distracting from it. It supported interviews, archival footage, and narrative beats with a clean, elevated motion system. This project highlights my experience in broadcast design, cross-functional collaboration, and building scalable motion systems for long-form content.
